TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a simple technique that uses exercises to release stress or tension from the body that accumulate from every day circumstances of life, from difficult situations, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences. It is easily learned, immediately effective, self-empowering and does not involve talking about the trauma – the body does the work not the mind.
A set of seven exercises help to release deep tension from the body by evoking a self-controlled muscular shaking process in the body called neurogenic muscle tremors. The uniqueness of this technique is that this shaking originates deep in the core of the body of the psoas muscles. These gentle tremors reverberate outwards along the spine releasing tension from the sacrum to the cranium.
TRE is a breakthrough in trauma recovery and has been used by millions of people around the world as an effective tool for releasing chronic traumatic stress, physical tension and emotional trauma.
The exercises are a simple form of stretching and are used to gently trigger these voluntary muscle tremors. They can be done by anyone from age of 5 to 95, regardless of fitness levels. Once the technique is learned and mastered after several guided sessions, the warm-up exercises may be accelerated or replaced with your normal exercise activities, and the technique then becomes a quick and effective method for consistent relaxation. Eventually, these tremors will evoke themselves naturally to reduce any stress or tension in the body. With regular TRE one can literally erase deep tension and trauma that is stored/memorised within the body over decades.
The beauty of TRE is that one learns to listen to the own body, the neurological pathways get restored and a connection between mind and body gets renewed.
Stress and tension are part of everyone’s life and we often do not realize how these experiences are etched deep in the mind and body. The shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behavior as humans. This shaking of the muscles, neurogenic tremors, increases the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels.
Everyone can benefit from TRE no matter if you are a parent/spouse who would like more patience with your family, a victim of violence, emotional or physical abuse or had an accident, if you are suffering with PTSD, or simply a person who wants to become more relaxed and just feel better about the every day challenges of life. TRE is a very effective healing modality for children from the age of 5 years who suffer from anxiety and/or ADHD.
Reported benefits include:
– Reduction of anxiety, anger, stress, tension and post trauma symptoms
– Better, deeper sleep
– Reduction of muscle and back pain
– Increases mobility, energy levels and autonomy
– Resolves bodies trauma patterns neurologically
– Reduced anger and rage
– Release of emotions from mild upset to severe anxiety
– Balancing of the nervous system
– Aid to healing of past injuries
– Relief from chronic medical conditions
– Helps recovery from addictions

New benefits of TRE reveal themselves everyday, as the body releases held tension and deeply stored traumatic events. Healing occurs on many different levels both physical and emotional. By reducing stress and tension levels within the body, these exercises have secondary benefits that encompass many areas of an individual’s life. TRE is a simple process, proven effective in restoring the nervous system and the neurologic pathways of the body.

As an international expert in the areas of trauma intervention and conflict resolution David has lived and worked in countries (like: Israel/Palestine, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Yemen, Egypt, and Lebanon) providing trauma relief workshops and designing recovery programs for international organizations around the world for over 25 years. He is fluent in English and Arabic; and he is also the energetic and creative founder and CEO of Trauma Recovery Services (1998). David brings a keen understanding of the intertwining dynamics of religion and ethnic customs and has developed specific processes to enable people to manage personal trauma as well as bring healing and reconciliation between diverse groups.
He is the creator of this revolutionary and unique set of Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) that help release the deep chronic tension created in the body during a traumatic experience. David continues to be involved in trauma recovery programs not solely for the sake of reducing the suffering caused by trauma but because he has recognized globally that trauma possesses unique possibilities of transformation in the individual if they pursue their recovery process to its ultimate end.
